The Chiles Timberwolves are taking a road trip to take on the Columbia Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chiles is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last ten games.
On Thursday, Chiles made easy work of Crestview and carried off a 3-0 win.
One reason for the win was Chiles' just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-16, 25-7.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Columbia sidestepped Suwannee for a 3-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.
Columbia had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 23-25, 25-13, 25-13, 15-11.
Chiles better focus on containing Bella Lester and Kinslee Hall as the pair were huge in Columbia's win. Lester had 17 digs and two aces, while Hall had 14 digs and three aces. Lester is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played.
Columbia was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 27 aces. They are 10-4 when they serve at least ten aces.
Columbia now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Chiles, their record is now 24-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Chiles has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Columbia struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Chiles' way against Columbia in their previous matchup back in October of 2021, as Chiles made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Timberwolves repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
