The Horizon Prep Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 36-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain Empire. Horizon Prep was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mountain Empire apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Mountain Empire got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Andrew Sepulveda out in front who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Maximo Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 14 rebounds.
Horizon Prep has fallen quite a ways from their 18-6 record last season and are now at 2-9. As for Mountain Empire, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Horizon Prep will finish 2023 at home by hosting Warner at 11:30 a.m. on December 28th. Warner is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. Mountain Empire will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Coastal Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
