Softball Recap: Shelley Has No Trouble Against Bonneville

Shelley won the last time they faced Bonneville and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Russets put the hurt on the Bees with a sharp 10-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Russets, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Macie Winder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Carlie Hurd was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Kennadi Mitchell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Shelley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Shelley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Bonneville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.

Shelley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bees: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
