Baseball Recap: Marais des Cygnes Valley Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Marais des Cygnes Valley was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Lyndon Tigers 9-8. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Tigers on Monday, they had to take a 7-1 loss.

Dalton Lingenfelter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Marais des Cygnes Valley is 4-2 when Lingenfelter allows two or fewer hits, but 1-5 otherwise. Lingenfelter was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Lingenfelter wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ty` Calderwood, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Calderwood is becoming a predictor of Marais des Cygnes Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-7 when he doesn't).

Marais des Cygnes Valley's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Lyndon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 1-7-2 record this season.

Marais des Cygnes Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 victory against Northern Heights on the 15th. As for Lyndon, they will venture away from home to challenge West Franklin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
