Benjamin Franklin posted their biggest win yet this season on Thursday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 77-47 victory over Tacony Academy Charter. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-20.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Benjamin Franklin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Soukare Fane, who scored 22 points along with five steals. Fane hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was David Winchester, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
While Martin Luther King couldn't quite beat MAST Charter II on Friday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 47-point loss they were dealt on Thursday. Martin Luther King fell just short of MAST Charter II by a score of 41-38. Martin Luther King has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Benito Scott, who scored 15 points along with six steals. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makhai Robinson, who scored five points along with ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Martin Luther King smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Benjamin Franklin's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Martin Luther King, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Benjamin Franklin have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Martin Luther King, though, as they've been averaging only 18.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
