The Greenville Trojans will take on the Saegertown Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Greenville sitting on six straight wins and Saegertown on three.
On Friday, Greenville was fully in charge, breezing past Lakeview 47-14. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won five matchups by 29 points or more so far this season.
Greenville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rudy Gentile, who rushed for 101 yards and two TDs. Cael Thurber was another key signal caller, throwing for 100 yards and three touchdowns on only eight passes.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Saegertown and Maplewood have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Panthers took down the Tigers 26-8.
Greenville better keep an eye on William Shaffer. He was instrumental in Saegertown's win, rushing for 78 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 77 yards and one TD.
Saegertown didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Maplewood to a completion percentage of just 42.3%. The Panthers weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 53.3%.
Saegertown didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Riley Wilkinson, Shaffer, and Westin Baker picked up one apiece.
Greenville's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Saegertown, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Everything went Greenville's way against Saegertown in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Greenville made off with a 35-13 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Panthers' Cru Scott, who rushed for 87 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Trojans still be able to contain Scott? There's only one way to find out.
