Montrose hasn't had much luck against Palisade recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Red Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. Montrose is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Montrose nor Gunnison made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Red Hawks blew past the Cowboys 10-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Red Hawks considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Montrose hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gunnison struck out 13 times.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Palisade, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Fruita Monument on Wednesday, sneaking past 7-6.
Like Montrose, Palisade also got a great game from a two-way player: MacKenzie Gray. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Gray has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Gray wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joey Donaldson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Montrose is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Palisade, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.
