Baseball Recap: Key Sets Scoring Season-High Against Sts. Peter & Paul

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Key). They blew past the Sts. Peter & Paul Sabres 18-1 on Friday. The Obezags haven't had any issues with the Sabres recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

John Fisher and Ben Kamins made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Fisher tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Meanwhile, Kamins struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). At bat, Fisher went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one triple, while Kamins went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Fisher has become a key player for Key: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Angus Lunt-Woodward and Sean Flynn did most of the damage at the plate: Lunt-Woodward went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Flynn went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Key is undefeated when Lunt-Woodward posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Wyatt Dowton was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Key always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Key's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Sts. Peter & Paul, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Coming up, Key will host Park School at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bruins will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Obezags surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sts. Peter & Paul, they will take on Holly Grove Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
