Cheraw is 2-8 against Andrew Jackson since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cheraw Braves will head out on the road to square off against the Andrew Jackson Volunteers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Cheraw didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Chesterfield, but they still walked away with a 52-47 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Cheraw.
Cheraw got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dwight Harrington out in front who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Strong, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Andrew Jackson came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They really took it to Central for the full four quarters, racking up a 80-46 win at home. Andrew Jackson has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 21 points or more this season.
Andrew Jackson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Damias Seegars led the charge by scoring 15 points. Ghaleb Wilson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Cheraw pushed their record up to 10-15 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Andrew Jackson, their win bumped their record up to 21-3.
Cheraw suffered a grim 78-53 defeat to Andrew Jackson when the teams last played back in January. Can Cheraw avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
