Gilmer is 8-1 against Pittsburg since November of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. Gilmer has given up an average of 43.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Gilmer is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games last Friday. They were outmatched by Brenham and fell 49-7. The Buckeyes were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Despite their defeat, Gilmer saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Zade Taylor, who threw for 201 yards on 14 of 26 attempts, and also punched in one score on the ground, was perhaps the best of all. A healthy portion of Taylor's aerial production (104 yards to be exact) went to Solomon Jackson.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Pittsburg ultimately got the result they hoped for last Friday. They had just enough and edged out Dallas Christian 23-20. Those 23 points were actually the fewest the Pirates have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
A big part of Pittsburg's victory came down to the chemistry between Kord Johnson and his top target Seven Duffey. Johnson rushed for 61 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Duffey rushed for 95 yards and one TD. Duffey's longest rush was for an incredible 95 yards.
Pittsburg was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 216 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Pittsburg's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Gilmer, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Gilmer has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 183 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pittsburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 174.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Gilmer against Pittsburg when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 49-0 victory. Will the Buckeyes repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
