The New Paltz Huguenots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight defeat. Their rough 55-32 defeat to Pine Plains might stick with them for a while. New Paltz was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pine Plains apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
New Paltz lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cadence O'dell, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points O'dell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kalle Masseo, who scored ten points along with six steals.
New Paltz's loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-14. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.7 points per game. As for Pine Plains, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
New Paltz didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 39-36 loss vs. Eldred on the 7th. Pine Plains has also already played their next match, a 52-37 loss against Onteora on the 9th.
