Football Recap: Chaz Holbrook Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Layton Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dixie). They walked away with a 34-21 win over the Layton Christian Academy Eagles on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Flyers considering their 13-point performance the game before.

Dixie got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Chaz Holbrook out in front who picked up 229 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Holbrook's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Deacon Virgin, who threw for 297 yards and one touchdown while completing 72.4% of his passes.

When it comes to explaining why Layton Christian Academy lost, don't look at Trevor Halalilo. Despite the final result, he rushed for 269 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 8.4 yards per carry.

The win got Dixie back to even at 2-2. As for Layton Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Dixie will venture away from home to square off against Pine View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Flyers' defense better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 41.8 points per game this season. As for Layton Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
