The Sanford Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Mancos Bluejays at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sanford is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Last Friday, Sanford got themselves on the board against Sargent, but Sargent never followed suit. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 1-0 win over the Farmers.
Meanwhile, Mancos had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Dolores 70-0 at home. The result was nothing new for Mancos, who have now won five matches by 30 points or more so far this season.
Kail Wayman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 55 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 69 yards and two touchdowns on only five passes. Chris Medina was in the mix too, providing Mancos with two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Sanford to 5-2 and Mancos to 6-1.
Sanford couldn't quite finish off Mancos when the teams last played back in October of 2022 and fell 22-20. Can Sanford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
