Baseball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for Brown

There's no place like home for Brown, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on the W.E.B. DuBois Academy Lions with a sharp 11-4 win on Saturday. Considering the Bears have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Oscar Wright was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 15 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brown got a big performance out of Ethan Perry, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run. Sam Benson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Brown pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for W.E.B. DuBois Academy, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brown will face off against Shawnee at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for W.E.B. DuBois Academy, they will challenge Whitefield Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
