Berkshire School is 0-8 against Salisbury School since April of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Bears will be playing at home against the Crimson Knights at 2:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Berkshire School took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over Wilbraham & Monson Academy. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bears considering their one-run performance the match before.
Eli Haskel spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Jack Sullivan was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Adan Jiminan, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Berkshire School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Salisbury School made sure to put some runs up on the board against Putnam Science Academy on Tuesday. The Crimson Knights blew past Putnam Science Academy 11-2. Considering the Crimson Knights have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Blake Taylor looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, Michael Fiatarone was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Thomas O'Connell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Salisbury School's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Berkshire School, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Berkshire School suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Salisbury School in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
