The El Toro Chargers are taking a road trip to challenge the Aliso Niguel Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
El Toro easily dispatched Trabuco Hills two weeks ago, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Chargers fell just short of Foothill by a score of 28-25 last Friday. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 224th in California, while the Falcons are ranked 19th in Nevada).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Wyatt Nucci, who threw for 209 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 37 yards. Makya Chee was in the mix as well, providing El Toro with two scores.
Meanwhile, Aliso Niguel's game last Friday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Pacifica 24-21. The victory continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Mariners: they've now won three in a row.
El Toro better keep an eye on Brady Defrain. He was instrumental in Aliso Niguel's win, rushing for 83 yards and one TD on only eight carries. Those 83 rushing yards gave Defrain a new career-high.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Aliso Niguel proved: they limited Pacifica to a paltry three yards per carry. The team can thank Artin Hatamabad for the heroic effort on defense: he. Aliso Niguel's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.3.
Aliso Niguel didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Carson Etnire and Parker Comerford. Hatamabad was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles.
Aliso Niguel's record is now 3-1. As for El Toro, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Things could have been worse for El Toro, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 28-14 loss to Aliso Niguel in their previous meeting back in August of 2024. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
