Wapakoneta hasn't had much luck against Celina recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Wapakoneta took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Bath. The Redskins haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-17, 25-23.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Monday. Celina fell just short of Defiance by a score of 3-2.
Celina wouldn't go down easily and took Defiance into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The final score came out to 25-27, 25-11, 23-25, 25-17, 15-13.
Wapakoneta will have to keep a close watch on Natalie Carlin and Sidney Jenkins, a pair of players who had a big impact on Celina's prior game. Carlin had 17 digs and one assist, while Jenkins had 18 digs, 11 kills, and four aces. Jenkins has been hot recently, having posted seven or more kills the last four times she's played.
Celina's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Wapakoneta, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 7-15.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's contest: Wapakoneta has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.3 aces per game. However, it's not like Celina struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
