Basketball Game Preview: Grenada Chargers vs. South Panola Tigers

Grenada is 8-2 against South Panola since November of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Grenada Chargers will welcome the South Panola Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Grenada is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season.

Grenada is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Lake Cormorant on Tuesday. Grenada came up short against Lake Cormorant, falling 73-52. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 184th, while Lake Cormorant are ranked 45th).

Despite their loss, Grenada saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Zayion Cotton, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance gave Cotton a new career-high in steals. Garan Edwards was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, South Panola was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 64-52 to Lake Cormorant.

South Panola's loss dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Grenada, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-18.

Grenada won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting on Thursday, slipping by South Panola 66-65. Will Grenada repeat their success, or does South Panola have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
