WEBBERVILLE, Mich. -
St. Patrick (Portland, Mich.) upset Webberville (Mich.) 44-8 while riding the arm of
Joe Mackowiak, who tossed five touchdown passes.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Mackowiak to
Jake Schneider in the first quarter, the Shamrocks were up 31-8 at the half.
St. Patrick expanded its lead to 36 points entering the fourth quarter. SP scored two times in the third, including once on a Mackowiak touchdown pass to
Jake Miller.
Mackowiak and Schneider teamed up to form a dynamic passing combination. Schneider caught three touchdowns and Mackowiak threw five. Schneider has now caught three touchdowns this season, while Mackowiak has thrown 13.
Webberville's only touchdown came on a 24-yard pass from Travis Elowsky to Turner Malik in the second quarter.
The Portland school had given up an average of 12.0 points prior to the contest.
The loss was the third in a row for the Spartans.
Webberville (2-5) goes up against Burr Oak in a Southern Michigan (8 Man) game matchup next week, while St. Patrick (7-0) locks horns with St. Philip Catholic Central also in a Southern Michigan (8 Man) game.
