Baseball Game Preview: Fairview Yellowjackets vs. Clinton Red Tornadoes

The Fairview Yellowjackets will face off against the Clinton Red Tornadoes at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Fairview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Fairview fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Pioneer-Pleasant Vale on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 6-5. The Yellowjackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Haddon Miller and Boden Miller stepped up to the plate in a big way. Haddon went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double, while Boden scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Schmitz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Clinton came into Thursday's contest having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Altus on Thursday. The Red Tornadoes not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th.

Clinton's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Craig Hunter, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another was Vince Jones, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Fairview's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Clinton, their victory bumped their record up to 4-14.

Clinton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fairview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314.
