The West Noble Chargers and the NorthWood Panthers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the West Noble Chargers had to settle for second. Their rough 46-23 defeat to the Panthers might stick with them for a while. West Noble's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it five in a row.
West Noble's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Alexia Mast, who scored 12 points, and Jalynn Baker who scored three points along with two steals. That was a full 52.2% of West Noble's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, West Noble struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Claire Payne continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for NorthWood, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds. Callie Johnson was another key contributor, scoring three points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
West Noble has been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-21 record this season. As for NorthWood, their victory bumped their record up to 18-6.
West Noble does not have any more games scheduled as of now. NorthWood won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Indiana (Fairfield is ranked 59th, while the Panthers are ranked 67th).
