College football fans have been desperate for a video game devoted to their beloved sport since "NCAA Football 14" was released in 2013. But the long national nightmare ends this week.
EA Sports "College Football 25" is finally here.
Donovan Edwards of Michigan, Quinn Ewers of Texas and Travis Hunter of Colorado grace the cover.
The first college football video game that EA Sports released was in 1993 with head coach Bill Walsh on the cover. The first athlete to be on a cover was Joe Gordon of Kansas State in "College Football USA 96."
Gordon went to high school at
Arlington (Texas) and is one of six players from the Lone Star State to grace the cover along with Michael Crabtree, Ewers, Gordon, Robert Griffin III, Brian Johnson and Brian Orakpo.
California is second with five. Reggie Bush, Carson Palmer and Ricky Williams all earned the cover after Heisman campaigns while DeSean Jackson and Mark Sanchez round out the group.
Florida is third with four including Heisman winners Tim Tebow and Danny Wuerffel. Tommie Frazier was the second athlete to be on the cover in "College Football USA 97" after leading Nebraska to back-to-back national championships.
