Basketball Recap: St. Agnes Academy Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but St. Agnes Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Mars Fightin' Planets by a score of 40-38. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 397th in Texas, while the Fightin' Planets are ranked 24th in Pennsylvania).

Mars was led to victory by Alexis Cashdollar and Vita Vargo. Cashdollar posted nine points along with seven steals and six boards, while Vargo earned 19 points and six rebounds. The game was Vargo's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cecilia Christy, who had six points and eight rebounds.

St. Agnes Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Mars, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

St. Agnes Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-26 defeat against Nitro on the 28th. As for Mars, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 35-24 win against Oceanside Collegiate Academy on the 28th.
