Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Mashpee Falcons, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by Cohasset 35-8 on Friday. Mashpee has not had much luck with Cohasset recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Cohasset was led to victory by Liam Appleton and Michael Wildfire. Appleton gained 100 total yards and three touchdowns, while Wildfire threw for 152 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes.
Mashpee's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Cohasset, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Mashpee will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Sandwich at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Massachusetts (Sandwich is ranked 126th, while Mashpee is ranked 136th). As for Cohasset, they will take on Amesbury at TBD on Friday. Amesbury is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
