Baseball Recap: Tintic Wins Going Away Against Green River

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Altamont, Tintic was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Green River Pirates as they made off with a 16-7 win. The Miners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by nine runs or more this season.

Kelan Bigler and Camden Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Bigler pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Johnson pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Bigler also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Tintic is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-7 otherwise. At the plate, Bigler went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Johnson went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Those three hits gave Bigler a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gavin Bratt was a standout: he went 4-for-6 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emmitt Despain, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Tintic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Green River only posted an OBP of .486.

The victory snapped Tintic's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-7 record. As for Green River, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Tintic didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-3 win against Wendover on the 19th. As for Green River, they have also already played their next matchup, a 10-0 defeat against Wayne on the 17th.
