The Sulligent Blue Devils and the Tanner Rattlers squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Sulligent Blue Devils had to settle for second. They took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rattlers. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sulligent in their matchups with Tanner: they've now lost six in a row.
Leading Tanner to victory were Skylar Townsend and Matthew Fletcher. Townsend scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Fletcher scored 16 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fletcher has scored all season. Elyjah Jones was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
Sulligent has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season. As for Tanner, they pushed their record up to 16-7 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
Sulligent does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tanner, they will take on Decatur Heritage Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tanner knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Decatur Heritage Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
