Appling County had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were beaten by the Ware County Gators 55-7 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 40-10 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.
Despite the loss, Appling County still got an impressive performance from Jaiden Knight, who rushed for 88 yards and one touchdown.
Tayshaun Franklin had an outrageously good game for Ware County as he rushed for 152 yards and three scores on only five carries. Those 152 rushing yards gave Franklin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamir Boyd, who rushed for 103 yards and one TD on only eight carries.
Appling County will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wayne County at 7:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for Ware County, they will welcome Coffee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
