Evangelical Christian has gone 8-2 against Southwest Florida Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Sentinels will challenge the King's at 4:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Evangelical Christian sitting on three straight victories and Southwest Florida Christian on four.
Evangelical Christian proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 18) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Charlotte.
Hayden Billie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Keaunna Green, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Taylor Davison was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Southwest Florida Christian made easy work of Oasis on Tuesday and carried off an 18-1 victory. Considering the King's have won nine matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kaley Fleischer was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrianna Thorne, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.
Southwest Florida Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive games.
Evangelical Christian's win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Southwest Florida Christian, their record is now 11-7.
Both Evangelical Christian and Southwest Florida Christian just can't seem to miss. The Sentinels have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Southwest Florida Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Evangelical Christian's way against Southwest Florida Christian in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Evangelical Christian made off with a 13-0 win. Will the Sentinels repeat their success, or do the King's have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
