The Holy Cross Knights and the Xaverian Clippers squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Holy Cross Knights had to settle for second. Holy Cross took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Xaverian. Holy Cross has not had much luck with Xaverian recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Holy Cross still got an impressive performance from Issac Glaudin, who picked up 81 receiving yards, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Xaverian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Duffy, who rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Jude Vanooyen was another key contributor, throwing for 180 yards and a touchdown.
Holy Cross has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Xaverian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
Holy Cross does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Xaverian will face off against Mt. St. Michael Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New York (Mt. St. Michael Academy is ranked 139th, while Xaverian is ranked 159th).
