Baseball Recap: Blythewood Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

Blythewood won against Spring Valley last Tuesday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Blythewood Bengals beat the Spring Valley Vikings by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2. The Bengals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by ten runs or more this season.

Chance Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Johnson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, Alex Myers was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Sammy Franklin was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3.

Blythewood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .558 or higher in three consecutive games.

Blythewood pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Spring Valley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Blythewood will host A.C. Flora at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Blythewood's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so A.C. Flora's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Spring Valley, they will head out to challenge West Florence at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Spring Valley has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
