After a string of three wins, the Northeast Vikings's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Altoona-Midway 40-35. The matchup was a 11-11 toss-up at halftime, but Northeast couldn't quite close it out.
William Stackhouse continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Altoona-Midway, scoring 19 points along with four blocks and two steals. Stackhouse is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Meigs, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Altoona-Midway, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeast will square off against the Wildcats on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kansas (Marmaton Valley is ranked 320th, while the Vikings are ranked 303rd). As for Altoona-Midway, they will head out on the road to face off against the Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Coffey County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last ten games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
