The King Vikings will face off against the Hamden Hall Country Day Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. King is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
King will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against Frederick Gunn on Wednesday. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Highlanders. Considering the Vikings have won three contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Elizabeth Tuttle made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hathaway Liparidis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Emma Drexel was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
King kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 21 runs the game before, Hamden Hall Country Day was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They fell just short of Cheshire Academy by a score of 3-1. The match marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Hamden Hall Country Day saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mara Patterson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
King now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Hamden Hall Country Day, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. King has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hamden Hall Country Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went King's way against Hamden Hall Country Day in their previous matchup back in May of 2019, as King made off with a 20-0 victory. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
