The Collinsville Cardinals will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Carl Albert Titans at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Collinsville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Carl Albert is ranked fourth).
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Collinsville walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Coweta on Friday and snuck past 23-20.
Collinsville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Skyler Moorman, who threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns. Ben Daniels did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Carl Albert put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 49-21 win over El Reno. Considering Carl Albert has won nine matches by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Carl Albert's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xavier Robinson led the charge by rushing for 144 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Robinson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Sperry, who threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes.
Collinsville is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Carl Albert, they have yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 11-0 record.
Collinsville was able to grind out a solid victory over Carl Albert in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, winning 27-20. Will Collinsville repeat their success, or does Carl Albert have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
