After a string of seven wins, The Desert Edge Scorpions''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 33-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cactus. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Desert Edge in their matchups with Cactus: they've now lost three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Desert Edge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Hezekiah Millender. Despite the final result, he rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 180 yards and two touchdowns. Jaqua Anderson was another key contributor, picking up 107 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Cactus got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Julian Stubblefield out in front who picked up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Tevin Marrufo was in the mix too, providing Cactus with two touchdowns.
Desert Edge's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Cactus, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
