Campbell County scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Simon Kenton, 29-28. At the time, the Pioneers was ranked ninth in the state, while the Camels was 61st.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Simon Kenton, who took down ninth ranked Simon Kenton, 29-28.
Jeff Marksberry's team's dynamic duo of Brenan Kuntz and Grant Wassom proved tough for Campbell County to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Kuntz threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns and Wassom had 104 yards receiving. Jacob Huesman helped Simon Kenton's passing attack out by catching two balls for 49 yards.
Mustafa Diaw was the most productive running back in 6A District 6 this week. He ran for 44 yards on 12 carries as Boone County fell to the Camels. Teammate Sam Steele added to the ground attack by rushing for 12 yards.
Simon Kenton's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Pioneers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Kuntz has thrown for 1299 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Wassom has 28 catches for 372 yards. Andrew Sampson leads the league in rushing with 523 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Simon Kenton takes on the Rebels. At the moment, the Pioneers are in first, while Boone County is in fifth.
There should be lots of points scored when Simon Kenton and Rick Thompson's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Pioneers comes in having scored 190 this season, while the Rebels have scored 100. Simon Kenton scored 28 points last week as it fell to Campbell County.
The Camels and the Pioneers played the most hotly contested game in 6A District 6 this week, with the Camels eventually emerging with a 29-28 victory.
