The Central Square Redhawks will venture away from home to take on the Fulton Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Central Square has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Central Square fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against West Genesee on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 7-6. On the bright side, the six- run effort marked the Redhawks' highest-scoring match to date.
Caytlin Redeye put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Redeye was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Isabelle Koagel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Another player making a difference was Alexandria Bell, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Fulton hadn't beaten East Syracuse-Minoa on the road since May 17, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Red Raiders blew past the Spartans 13-6. That's two games straight that the Red Raiders have won by exactly seven runs.
Like Central Square, Fulton also got a great game from a two-way player: Emma Spaulding. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Spaulding was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Riley Trude was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Ella Przychodzen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run.
Fulton has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.0 runs this season. As for Central Square, their record now sits at 1-3.
Central Square was able to grind out a solid win over Fulton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 8-5. Will the Redhawks repeat their success, or do the Red Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
