The Ceres Bulldogs were the 36-0 winner over the Davis Spartans when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Ceres fell 20-13 to Davis on Friday. Ceres just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Ceres' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Manuel Mendoza, who picked up 157 receiving yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Brayden Clark, who threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 passes.
It was another big night for Izzy Sanchez, who rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 54 yards and a touchdown. Sanchez really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run.
Ceres has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Davis, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-7.
Ceres will head out on the road to face off against Pioneer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pioneer will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Davis does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
