Basketball Recap: Hazlehurst Find Success

Hazlehurst hadn't done well against St. Andrew's Episcopal recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Hazlehurst Indians walked away with a 60-47 victory over the St. Andrew's Episcopal Saints. This was a revenge game for the Indians: when they faced off against the Saints back in November, they had to take a 47-35 defeat.

Hazlehurst found their leader in sophomore Trae'Kerrion Collins, who posted 23 points. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for Collins. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Murray, who put up 14 points.

Hazlehurst has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points per game. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-7.

Hazlehurst will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Jefferson Davis County at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025. St. Andrew's Episcopal also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Pelahatchie at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
