The Phoenix Spartans pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The matchup between Phoenix and Pine wasn't particularly close, with Phoenix falling 77-58. Phoenix has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Phoenix saw an underclassman step up: RONDELL BATTLE scored 36 points. BATTLE scored a full 62.1% of Phoenix's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. DERVONTE ANCAR was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Phoenix's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-8. As for Pine, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-7.
Phoenix will look to defend their home court on Friday against West Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. Pine's road trip will continue as they head out to face Covington at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
