The McMinnville Grizzlies will square off against the Glencoe Crimson Tide at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
McMinnville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Oregon's top teams: Forest Grove, who was ranked 23rd at the time (McMinnville was ranked fourth). The Grizzlies' pitchers stepped up to hand the Vikings a 6-0 shutout on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Grizzlies as they're now sitting on five straight.
MacKenzie Roberts tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Laney Reed was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Terry, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Glencoe waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Tigers as they made off with a 10-0 win.
Kalli Farrimond made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Kendyl Mishler was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Makena Petrick was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Glencoe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newberg only posted a batting average of .263.
Glencoe pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for McMinnville, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
McMinnville skirted past Glencoe 7-6 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Grizzlies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crimson Tide turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
