This season hasn't been kind to The Central Tigers, who are still winless after their eighth match. They took a serious blow against Jonesboro on Friday, falling 45-6. Central has struggled against Jonesboro recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Among those leading the charge was Jordan Daniels, who rushed for 115 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Markevious Pickett was another major influence, as he rushed for 64 yards and ran in a TD.
Another reason for the win was Jonesboro's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Samuel King and his two sacks.
Central's defeat was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-0 Bryant and 9-1 Conway (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58.1% over those games). As for Jonesboro, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Jonesboro will play host again and welcome Southside, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arkansas (Southside is ranked 15th, while Jonesboro is ranked 26th).
