The Fulton Red Raiders will challenge the Central Square Redhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fulton will be strutting in after a victory while Central Square will be coming in after a loss.
Fulton hadn't beaten East Syracuse-Minoa on the road since May 17, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Red Raiders blew past the Spartans 13-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Red Raiders have posted against the Spartans since May 17, 2019.
Emma Spaulding made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Spaulding was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Riley Trude was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Ella Przychodzen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Central Square fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against West Genesee on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 7-6. The Redhawks have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Like Fulton, Central Square also got a great game from a two-way player: Caytlin Redeye. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Redeye was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Isabelle Koagel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Another player making a difference was Alexandria Bell, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Fulton has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs this season. As for Central Square, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Fulton came up short against Central Square in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 8-5. Can the Red Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
