The Houston Mustangs will take on the Dyer County Choctaws in a holiday battle at 3:30  p.m.  on Monday at. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Houston comes in on five and Dyer County on eight.
 On Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Houston beat Holmes County Central 58-53.
  Laila Mcnamee was  her usual excellent self,  scoring 21 points along with six  rebounds. That's the first time this season that  she  scored 15 or more  points.  Amani Lipscomb was another key contributor,  scoring 11 points along with four  steals.
 Meanwhile, Dyer County beat Union City 61-48  on Saturday. Given Dyer County's advantage  in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings  (they are ranked 51st, while Union City is ranked 230th), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Houston is  on a roll lately: they've  won six of their last seven matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Dyer County, their victory was  their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 8-0.
 Houston suffered a grim  56-36 defeat to Dyer County  in their previous meeting  back in December of 2021. Can Houston avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
