Surry HomeSchool's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Lindsay Easter, who shot 67% from the field on her way to 17 points and eight steals, and McKenna Stovall, who posted 11 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Easter is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Ava Tarsha also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steals of the season.
Surry HomeSchool smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Charlotte). They really took it to NC H for the full four quarters, racking up a 46-18 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-6.
South Charlotte's win came from a few key players Surry HomeSchool will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Maribella Aitchison, who had eight points and 12 steals. Those 12 steals gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Evelyn Softly, who went 5-for-6 en route to 10 points and five steals.
South Charlotte moved to 2-4 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Surry HomeSchool, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Surry HomeSchool has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.5 boards per game. However, it's not like South Charlotte struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Surry HomeSchool came out on top in a nail-biter against South Charlotte in their previous matchup back in February, sneaking past 40-37. Will the Runnin' Patriots repeat their success, or do the Thunder have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
