The Patuxent Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 56-23 loss at the hands of St. Charles. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Patuxent in their matchups with St. Charles: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, Patuxent still got an impressive performance from Ailish Fockler, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Fockler has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last four times she's played.
McKenzie Thomas continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. Charles, scoring 28 points along with three steals. Thomas hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games. Kyoko Johnson-Reeves was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven steals.
Patuxent has not been sharp recently as the team has lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for St. Charles, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with that win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Patuxent will be playing in front of their home fans against Lackey at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Patuxent focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for St. Charles, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Western Tech & Environmental Science at 5:00 p.m. Hopefully St. Charles focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday.
