After losing to Rocky Mountain the last time they met, Fossil Ridge decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Fossil Ridge SaberCats walked away with  a   50-41  victory over the Rocky Mountain Lobos  on Tuesday. Given the SaberCats' advantage  in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings  (they are ranked 32nd, while the Lobos are ranked 102nd), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Fossil Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Carter Gray led the charge by  putting up 12  points. Gray also  posted a  block, marking his first of the season.  Malachai Egbuji was another key player,  going 5 of 9  en route to 10 points and eight  rebounds.
 Despite the  defeat, Rocky Mountain saw an underclassman step up: sophomore  Mateo Valencia  posted six  points and four  steals. Those four  steals gave  Valencia a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Peyton Matkin, who  earned nine points.
Fossil Ridge has  been performing  well recently as they've  won seven of their last nine contests,  which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record  this season. As for Rocky Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
 Fossil Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next  game,  a  66-55  win against Loveland on the 31st. Rocky Mountain has also  already played their next matchup,  a  60-49  victory against Fort Collins on the 31st.
