The Dohn Community Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 58-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Belmont. Dohn Community lost against Belmont in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 68-32 score last time.
Belmont got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jariah Porter out in front who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Porter is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Camauria Mayo, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 18 rebounds.
Dohn Community's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Belmont, their win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dohn Community will take on Meadowdale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meadowdale presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Dohn Community in Ohio (Meadowdale is ranked 177th, while Dohn Community is ranked 739th). As for Belmont, they will head out on the road to face off against Ponitz Career Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
