The Cascade Bruins will challenge the Arlington Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cascade has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lake Stevens hit Cascade with a seven-run third inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bruins came up short against the Vikings, falling 13-3.
Cascade saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tessa Hahn, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Arlington waltzed into their match on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over the Warriors.
Peyton Aanstad spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and seven unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Arlington let Grace Strothman and Eliza Andrews run wild. Strothman went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Andrews went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two runs gave Strothman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Miller, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Arlington pushed their record up to 5-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.75 runs across that stretch. As for Cascade, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Cascade was able to grind out a solid victory over Arlington in their previous matchup on April 3rd, winning 16-13. Do the Bruins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
