While losing is never fun, Bartlett Yancey can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Southeast Alamance is ranked 97th).
Bartlett Yancey's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Alexis Farrish, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three blocks, and Jazmyne Henderson who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Henderson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last three games she's played.
Meanwhile, Jordan-Matthews' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight defeat. They were the victim of a tough 63-40 loss at the hands of Chatham Central.
Despite their defeat, Jordan-Matthews saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Reagan Smith, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Jada Scott was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and six blocks.
Bartlett Yancey now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Jordan-Matthews, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
Bartlett Yancey was able to grind out a solid victory over Jordan-Matthews in their previous meeting last Wednesday, winning 63-56. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Jordan-Matthews' Lia Carter, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Bartlett Yancey still be able to contain Carter? There's only one way to find out.
