This season hasn't been kind to the New Madrid County Central Eagles, who are still winless after their seventh match. They took a serious blow against Saxony Lutheran on Thursday, falling 74-17. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points New Madrid County Central has scored all season.
Saxony Lutheran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rebecca Johnson led the charge by scoring 21 points. Johnson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evie Caruso, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
New Madrid County Central's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-7. As for Saxony Lutheran, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Sikeston the next time they take the court. Saxony Lutheran will head out to face Sikeston at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024, while New Madrid County Central will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
